Westport is also the ideal destination for visiting or even climbing Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s Holy Mountain. Thousands flock to this mountain each year, with the Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick Heritage Centres being excellent sources of historical information. Westport also boasts two cultural events and festivals the Westport Arts Festival which takes place in early September and The Westport Music Festival that takes place in August. Both festivals celebrate theatre, dance, international and Irish Music.
